Q1 : AIR MAXとの出会いを教えてください。
How did you know about AIR MAX ?

オリジナルが発売された1987年当時から知っています。

I know about Air Max’s since the very first release back in 1987.

Q2 : AIR MAXを集め始めたのはいつからですか？また、何故コレクションしようと思ったのですか？
When did you start collecting the AIR MAX and Why ?

集め始めたのは1987年からです。
発売当初の頃の物はもう何も残っていませんが、バイヤーとして頻繁に買うようになり、NIKEが一度AIR MAX 1の発売を終了した事をきっかけにコレクションをするようになりました。 そして1992年、95、97、98、99と現在までに至る再販がスタートしてからは再度販売が終了する事を考えて、見つけられるAIR MAXは全て購入してきました。

I more so started buying Air Max’s since 1987 to present day. I didn’t keep anything from my early years but since working have been a frequent buyer. I collected because they stopped making Air Max 1s so when they started making them again in 1992 then 1995 97 98 99 onwards I copped any pairs I could find incase they stopped making them again.

Q3 : MASTERS OF AIRに選ばれた時の感想を教えてください。
How did you feel when you elected MASTERS OF AIR ?

Masters Of Airに選ばれた時、史上最もアイコニックなスニーカーであるAIR MAXのコレクターとしての私の情熱が、 私が最も愛するブランドであるNIKEに認められたという事が信じられませんでした。 まるで大学院を卒業して、スニーカーコレクターの修士号をもらったような感覚で、夢のようでとても幸せな出来事でした。

When elected MASTERS OF AIR I really couldn’t believe NIKE the brand I genuinely loved recognised my passion as a collector of the most iconic Sneaker of all time. It was like graduating from university with a masters degree in collecting sneakers. I was estatic and very happy to say the least.

Q4 : atmosはどういう印象をお持ちですか？
What is your impression of atmos?

atmosは私にとって常にNikeと素晴らしいコラボレーションを生み出しているブランドの一つです。 私が最初にatmosについて知ったのが2002、2003にリリースされたMAX 1のSafariとViotechで、 それらは今日に至るまで傑作のAIR MAXのうちの一つであり、今もなおスニーカーゲームに多大な影響を与え続けていると思います。 私自身その当時からずっとatmosのファンです。

Atmos to me is one of the greatest collaborations to ever work with Nike. I first learned of atmos since 2002/3 when they dropped the Nike Air Max 1B swoosh safaris and Viotechs and to this day one of the best air max 1s ever and to this very day are a force in the game of sneakers. Been a fan ever since.

Q5 : ゲットするのに一番苦労したモデルを教えてください。
(できればその時のゲットできた時の経緯や心境なども教えてください。)
Tell me the AIRMAX that the hardest to get that you have ever gotten and also tell me how did you feel when you could get the pairs?

一番ゲットするのに苦労したのはFriends & FamilyでのみリリースされたKID ROBOTのAIR MAX 1です。 元々サイズ13は持っていたのですが、アムステルダムにサイズ９を所有している人がいて、それを売ろうとしているという事を知って買いに行きました。 ゲットするまでの旅路は長いものでしたが、今までリリースされたAIR MAXの中でも私のTOP５に入る１足だったので、とてもゲットしに行く価値のあるものでした。 その一足を実際に手にしたときは、とても興奮して全身に血が駆け巡るのを感じました。とてもレアなスニーカーをゲットした時の感覚は最高です。 だけどその興奮が冷めた後はまた次のターゲットを求めて旅が始まります。

One of the hardest one’s to get for me is the kid robot friends and family. I owned a us13 for some years before someone I knew in Amsterdam had a Us9 that he wanted to sell. I kindly obliged and copped them. That journey was long but most definitely worth it. My top 5 ever to realease that I own. The feeling I get when the mission is complete is like a mad rush of blood rushing through your entire body. A lovely sense of accomplishment especially when the numbers are low and a population of millions, ya gotta feel good. Then when the feelings gone there’s another on the list to target. Then the next journey begins. “ The chase “

Which AIRMAX is the most proud of having in your collection and why ?

AIR MAX 1 MASTERと言わざるを得ません。
この一足はAIR MAXという傑作スニーカーを世に送り出したNIKEというメーカーが、
我々のようなコレクターを認知した瞬間を象徴するような一足であると言えるので。

It would have to be the air max Masters. Reason would have to be that it was the release that marked the moment of recognition from the brand and maker of the best Sneaker on the planet “the Nike Air Max 1.

Q7 : お気に入りのAIR MAX 90を紹介してください。
(何故お気に入りかもそれぞれ教えてください)
Tell me the 3pairs of your favorite AIRMAX90 and why?

お気に入りのAIR MAX 90ですが、オリジナルカラーのインフラレッドはやっぱり好きです。 1990年リリース当時にゲットした唯一のカラーで、私のスニーカー遍歴を代表する一足です。当時出ていたウィメンズカラーも好きです。 その他ではSTATE MAGAZINEとのコラボレーションとしてリリースされたAIR MAX 90‟THE HOME GROWN”の一般リリースバージョンと Friends & Familyバージョンがお気に入りです。両方とも欲しくて、何年も探してようやく手に入れる事が出来ました。 手に入れる機会をくれたロッテルダムの友達であるWoeiには大変感謝していて、甥と一緒にロッテルダムをドライブしてそれを受け取りに行ったのはいい思い出です。 Friends & Familyバージョンは世界でも20足に満たないリリース数で、私の中では今までで一番印象に残っているリリースのうちの一つです。

Favorite pair of 90s (formally the Air Max 3) has got to be the original. The infrared cw the home grown pack from state magazine. They represent for me my journey and my first ever pair from Og release back in 1990. Do love the ladies cw too. The home grown 90 collab with Dutch magazine “State Magazine” public release and friends and family. I wanted the both and pretty much hunted them for years till finally finding them. Shout out to my homie Woei in Rotterdam for the hook. I remember driving to Rotterdam with my nephew to go pick them up. Oh what a feeling. They I consider to be one of the best to ever release. The friends and family released in very limited numbers and only less than 20 pairs in the world.

What is the attractiveness of AIRMAX for you?

私にとってAIR MAXの魅力はビジブルエアーで、かつてこのようなデザインはスニーカーにはありませんでした。 それ以外で最も重要だったのが、シューレースを綺麗に通して履かれたAIR MAX 1の造形美です。 滑らかでかっこいいデザインは私たち世代のスタイルにぴったりでした。

My attraction to air max had to be the visible air units. Nothing like that was ever seen on a Sneaker. The other most important point was the air max one, the shape, the way it looked on foot especially when laced correctly (non factory). The sleek clean cut Sneaker was perfect for the stylers of my generation.

Shout out to the Japanese heads and fans of the air max. Keep doing what you do to grow the culture. I have been inspired by the culture over there and plan to visit. I believe the most rare sneakers are found in Japan and Asia as a whole. Sneaker heaven.
