ルコックスポルティフが生み出してきた数あるプロダクトのなかでも、 シンプルかつベーシックなデザインが魅力の〈MONTPELLIER（モンペリエ）〉。 長年に渡って愛され続けるこのアイコニックモデルは、2019年で発売から20周年を迎えます。 その節目となる年を記念して、京都のテキスタイルブランド「SOU・SOU」とのコラボレーションモデルが10年以上の歳月を経てついに復活。 かつてのコラボレーションで採用された3柄（テキスタイルデザイナー脇阪克二氏によるもの）を 『MADE IN JAPAN』モデルとしてリニューアルしました。 〈MONTPELLIER.JP SOU・SOU〉を2019年5月18日（土）に発売します。

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the release of the iconic Montpellier model from le coq sportif, a brand loved for many decades. To commemorate this milestone, the brand is reviving a model created in collaboration with the Kyoto textile brand SOU· SOU more than ten years ago. This series will bring back the Made in Japan model in three patterns (Katsuji Wakisaka, a Japanese textile designer) used in previous collaborations. 〈MONTPELLIER.JP SOU・SOU〉 will be available May 18th, 2019.

「SOU・SOU」は、“新しい日本文化の創造”をコンセプトに、 伝統的な素材や技法を積極的に用いながら現代のライフスタイルに寄り添うものづくりを展開する京都のブランド。 日本の四季や風情をポップに表現し、日本のテキスタイルデザインの可能性を広げています。

A Kyoto brand that creates items suited to modern lifestyles while actively incorporating traditional materials and techniques, based on the concept of "creating new Japanese culture." Expressing the style and seasons of Japan with pop designs, this brand is expanding the possibilities of Japanese textile design.

【 高島帆布 x 京型友禅/Takashima Canvas x Kyoto Yuzen 】

アッパー生地は、日本で有数の帆布の産地・滋賀県高島市で織られた「高島帆布」を、 京都の着物文化を支えてきた〈京型友禅〉で染め上げています。 色ごとに版を分けて型を作り、色糊を一色ずつ生地に擦り込んでいくという 職人の熟練した技・勘を要する技法は機械では出せない深い趣があります。

The upper layer of fabric uses Takashima Canvas, woven in the city of Takashima in Shiga Prefecture, one of the leading areas of canvas production in Japan, then dyed using Kyoto Yuzen, a method that has served as a pillar of Kyoto's kimono culture. This technique, in which separate molds are created for each color then imprinted into the fabric one by one, requires skilled craftsmanship and intuition, and has a depth of style that cannot be created with a machine.

【 SO-SU-U /十数（そすう) 】

1995 年：世界中で広く使われているアラビア数字はシンプルで国籍、性別、年令などを問わない普遍性を備えています。 記号としてよく出来ていて、しかも愛着のもてる形をしています。 デザインする時むつかしいかなと思ったのは、どこにでもある形なのでどこまで魅力的に出来るかということでした。

1995 : Arabic numerals used all over the world are simple and are common across nationalities, genders, and age. These are well-made symbols that also have a loveable shape. The hardest part about creating this design was how appealing could we make it, since these are shapes that are found everywhere.

【 KIKU/菊 】

2004 年：パリ滞在中に今までさけてきた日本的なもののよさを意識しはじめる。 帰国後、和菓子や干菓子の菊をモチーフに思いをこめてデザインした。 日本的な印象を強調しようとハーモニーよりコントラストを重視、黒い雲で緊張感を。

2004 : I first became aware of what was good about all things Japanese, something I had avoided, when I was in Paris. After returning to Japan, I created designs based on the chrysanthemum (kiku) pattern in Japanese sweets and dried confections. To create a stronger Japanese impression, I emphasized contrast over harmony, creating a sense of tension with the black clouds.

2007 年：ルコックのマークを家紋化し、SOU ・SOUの家紋を並べてみた。 大小のものがちらばっているタイプのデザインは、皆で打ち合わせした時にできた偶然のリズム。

2007: We tried turning the le coq mark into a family crest and arranged it with the SOU·SOU crest. The design, which intersperses large and small crests, was a fortuitous rhythm created by everyone meeting and discussing the design together.
